The World of Agusan Manobo Music

Mana-ug

A phallus-looking object is struck on the floor as the doer utters magical speech to ward off the penetrations of the spirit of eye-ailment, Mana-ug. The icon is then put on the interstices of the roof shingles of the house. This simple ritual does not need the services of the medium for Mana-ug is a bound spirit of nature.
